Getting Bigger
Andrew is getting bigger everyday! He is really filling out. Daddy weighed him today and he is close to ten pounds! If he keeps growing at this rate he may beat cousin Eliza Vivian! He is a great eater and still sleeping like a champ. Last night he slept from 11 - 4, the longest strech ever, I still had to wake him up to eat! We are doing great and feeling good. We all went to church this morning, but we left a little early because I got a little overheated (a undershirt, long sleeve shirt and sling with a hot baby is not very smart in July) and a bit sick. Grandma and Grandpa Shaffer brought lunch over, then Drew, mom and dad all took a Sunday afternoon nap. Here is a video from yesterday. Andrew usually has two awake times during the day, one hour or so period in the morning and a 2 - 3 hour period in the evening. The rest of the time he is comfy sleeping in the baby bjorn, sling, on mom or dad, or in his cuddle seat.

Meeting Great Grandpa Miller

Drew and I had a very busy day. It started by driving to Southport to see Aunt Katie in a singing performance. Then we went to Aunt Linda's to meet Great Grandpa Miller and Yvette. It was my first time out driving with Andrew by myself, but we made it with no problems. He really enjoys the car ride and as long as we are moving he is happy. However, if we have to stop (which happens often in busy south-side traffic) he gets a bit cranky! Grandpa enjoyed meeting Drew and was pretty excited to have another boy in the family. Aunt Linda got some more time with him as well. Aunt Katie came back to Brownsburg with us to spend the weekend. She will be returning to Texas on Sunday, so we were anxious to have her for a few days.Thursday, July 24, 2008
Sun Shiny Day
We had another restful night (good thing, because Mommy was very tired from a long day with few naps!). Andrew slept very well from 11 - 2, 2:30 - 5, 6 - 8, 8:45 - 10:30 and so did mom! We were feeling great this morning and after getting ready for the day decided to do some pictures outside. Andrew wasn't to sure about the sun and even under a shade tree decided not to open his eyes! So we took some more pictures inside...
and he was happy as can be. Now he is in the baby bjorn fast asleep. We have big plans for the day, including a trip to the store (in the sling, so no one gets too close!) and a big boy bath, now that his umbilicus is fully healed. Grandma Shaffer is coming over to help this afternoon. I am sure there will be more pictures to come!Wednesday, July 23, 2008
Beautiful Day

Bath Time with Mom
Andrew is not too fond of baths, but another two days have gone by and he is looking greasy! Plus I had him in the baby bjorn while I was eating lunch yesterday and several pieces of my Cesar salad ended up on his head! I am sure I will get better with practice, but with the amount of stains I had on my belly during his pregnancy I may not! I had a good time picking lint out from between his little toes! Another big happening was that his umbilical cord fell off. I was glad to have it out of the way and I know he is too.
Sweet Baby Boy

Another afternoon, thus another photo shoot! Andrew just had a bath and was pretty tuckered by the end of the shoot! He is so cute in the little duck outfit our friends Katie and Luke got for him. What a handsome little man! Aunt Michelle, Ethan and Emma came for the day. They helped by cleaning and making another great meal - chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, home-made bread and sweet corn. Aunt Michelle got a few shots with Drew and his mommy as well. Rise & Shine

I couldn't resist another photo shoot when Andrew woke up this morning. This is after several changes of clothes, because he still waits until just the right time to pee all over himself. I do try to keep him covered, but I am never quite quick enough! Oh well, only a few more days while he can still fit in his newborn clothes, so I am going to enjoy it! Drew has a wonderful sleep schedule and we feel pretty lucky for the first two weeks of life! I know it is going to change, but so far he has stuck to a routine. We go to bed around 11:00pm and do a good feeding and diaper change. I usually put him in Aunt Cindy's snuggle chair in the co-sleeper for the first stretch of the night. I usually wake up around 2:00am and note that he is starting to stir, so another feeding and diaper change, get into the swaddle-me blanket and in the co-sleeper. He usually sleeps from 3:00am to 6:30 or so. Next another feeding, diaper change, change into some comfy jammies and it is cuddle time with mom and dad until 8:00am. We have a positioner that works well in bed with us and so far we are all getting a pretty good amount of sleep. I should be napping during the day, but it is awfully fun to blog about him when he is sleeping! Right now he is snuggled in my sling on my chest sound asleep! Between the sling and the Baby Bjorn I have him in my arms most of the day and still get tons done (laundry, cleaning, pictures, blogging, cards...). I am loving being a mommy and treasure this time with Andrew. Monday, July 21, 2008
On the Move

In the first few days Andrew went on several big trips. The first big car ride was home from the hospital, then off to the pediatrician (Drew went from 8lbs 5oz to 9lbs 3oz in 4 days!), next was a trip to Grandma & Grandpa Shaffer, then a trip to the grocery store with mom and dad, finally a lunch at Don Pablos to celebrate Katies 14th birthday.

Byrum Visit

Aunt Michelle and Uncle Steve were unable to visit during the first week due to sickness, so the cousins were really excited to finally meet their cousin. From the time the Byrum kids knew I was expecting I was always greeted with a kiss and hello to my belly. Ethan, Emma, Eliza and Ella were counting down the days until the 4th of July and didn't understand why he wasn't here yet. When they saw Drew they said he was so cute and they wanted to kiss him. They got to kiss his feet this visit. After much hand sanitizing each cousin had a chance to hold Andrew for a quick picture. Aunt Michelle brought us an amazing meal of spiral cut ham, grits, fresh picked green beans and corn and homemade bread. We ended the evening off with a walk around the pond.
